I see that you have blank nail wheels, or at least that's what I'm gonna call it. Where can I find some? It would make experimenting with my nails SO much easier!!! Thanks =]
I got mine on ebay and amazon, all you gotta do is search “nail wheels” (you were right!) and there will be a ton of really cheap options. I love them for experimenting with new designs! They’re so handy
Hello, I'm fairly new to your blog, but I must say that I love it! I was wondering what your thought were on those serums they sell to dry your nails. I don't know if you know what I'm talking about but it looks like a top coat, & it's supposed to dry your nails out quickly. Do you use anything like this? Or do you prefer to let them air dry. If the stuff works, then I think it'd be amazing, but for me, they are too pricey to purchase prior to knowing if they actually work. Thanks for any help!
I have one from Revlon called Liquid Quick Dry (funny, I actually bought it because I thought it was a quick dry topcoat, not one of those drip dry things) and I got it for like 4 dollars or so, and it works fairly well, but it makes your nail kind of greasy and weird, so I think it’s all up to personal preference. I’ve heard you can get the same reaction by spraying your fingernails with cooking spray, which is fine if you want your hands to smell like Pam, but I’ve never actually tried it.
I prefer just letting my nails air dry, especially because there are so many excellent quick dry topcoats out there. My absolute favorite is Sally Hansen Dries Instantly, but Seche Vite is great for any manicure that needs smoothing out because it’s so thick. I hope this helped! Thanks : )
My mother just texted me to let me know that I gained 500 followers this month. I know I’m not my upbeat and cheery/unnervingly sarcastic self right now, but I wanted to say THANK YOU!!!! You are all the reason I take this blogging thing so seriously and help me to enjoy what I do just so much more. All of your sweet messages and comments seriously make me happier than you can imagine. You’re all the best : )
(If you were wondering, I’m creeping up on 1500 followers. I had an anon ask me about a week ago and I was too lazy to answer then. whoops.)
i went to the craft store today looking for the studs your used when u did the dark-green with gold studs, i couldnt find them, what exactly should i tell the clerk im looking for next time i go back
I don’t know if you’ll be able to find them at a craft store— I’ve never seen them in one around where I live. If you just google nail art studs though, there are a lot of places you can buy them online
THANK YOU for the follow! I loooooove your designs! <33 Always look forward to your posts. ^_^
You’re so welcome! I was looking all through your blog the other day and I reallllly love the nails you’ve been doing late with the stripes and the black outlines. They look so sharp! Thanks so much, by the way : )
I was planning on making one today as I was done with classes at 9am, but I had an early morning workout today and pulled a muscle in my back and spent all day resting. Hopefully I’ll recover enough to do one this weekend though!
in that photo where your nails are green and you have those gold things on them, WHERE DID U GET THEM?? & how did u doo that!?!? they looked soo amazing
They’re called nail art studs, and I got them here, at bornprettystore.com. To put them on I just painted down my base color, let that dry and then put on a somewhat thick layer of NOT fastdry topcoat and carefully just put them on with my fingers haha. After the whole nail was covered I sealed it with a coat of Seche Vite to cut down on the texture since it’s a really thick top coat.
For the nails with only the singular stud at the base of the nail, I just put a dot of clear nail polish where I want the stud to be and stick it there. You also asked if they were difficult to remove, and while they definitely take more time than regular polish, I actually think they’re easier than glitter to take off. It just takes a little bit of scrubbing! Thanks! : )
I reblogged a whole bunch of your stuff. So, um, this is to tell you that I'm not stalking you. Or stuff. I just really really like your nail designs. SO MUCH. I LOVE YOUR NAIL DESIGNS.
Ahahahaha you are adorable. But you should know that I heard that it is stalking awareness month so you should be more careful next time…. But I LOVE YOU. And you know I mean it cuz I’m writing this on an itouch and all caps is tedious! Thanks :)
Hi Candice! I was just wondering how you photograph your manicures? Is there a trick to it? I can't seem to get it when trying to take a picture of mine, they're always really blurry! Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Cheers! X
The good thing is that there’s no need to have a big fancy camera to take your photos- I try to use my dad’s sometimes and I just give up and go back to my little one. I use a Nikon Coolpix with a broken flash for about 90% of my photos and that works just fine.
My set up is actually hilarious and my roommates all laugh at me when I take my photos because I basically just turn on all the lights in my room, climb up on my bed, hold my hand up against my wall next to where my wall light fixture is, and take the photos there. It’s important that you have good, bright white lighting to make sure the colors in the photo are as accurate as possible, and to use the macro setting on your camera because that’s what’s meant to take really close-up shots and will focus on your hand when it’s an inch away from the camera lens. For most cameras I think the macro setting is a picture of a little flower. I hope that was helpful!
Hi! I love doing nail art and yours are amazing! I was wondering what your youtube channel is, as going through your blog people keep requesting! Keep up the fantastic work!
Thank you so much! My blog channel is mrcandiipants as well actually (for some reason that name isn’t incredible popular… weird, I know) and if you can’t find it, I have both of the videos up on there on my tumblr as well, so if you go back a little bit you should be able to find them!
You seriously need to make more videos on youtube. I am growing my nails out just so I can paint them like you do. I love watching your video's you are so spunky and cute. Sorry, if I am making this weird...
I hope I’ll be able to soon! I really enjoyed making the videos I have up, it’s just that I just got back to school so I’m pretty busy. I want to try to get one up at the end of this week, but I’ll just have to see how that one goes…
I’ve been contemplating doing the nail art 30 day challenge for a few days (let’s be honest, months) now, and I’m thinking I might start it up soon. I’ve just been seriously lacking in inspiration since I’ve been back at school and I miss doing my nails so much. So, what do you guys think? Even though if I did it, I’m not sure if I’d do it every single day, would you like that?
okay so i've been going through page after page of your blog for probably too long now and OMG i love your nails. you are such an awesome artist and the stuff you do is so cool and AHHH i wish i could do my nails like you D: seriously though, i think i'm in love. lol i hope that's okay with you.
Haha of course that’s ok with me! That is so incredibly flattering, thanks so much! : )
Hi! I don't have a tumblr, but I check on yours allll the time. I was wondering if you could tell me what kind of material (I think it looks like a sort of paper) you use to mix all your colors on in your videos? the gigantic one with all the colors on it? thanks!! :D
Thanks! I just use a piece of poster board that I cut to make a more convenient size. I like it because A it’s cheap, B the surface is plasticky so the polish has never leaked through and C I think it looks really cool haha
What kind of topcoat do you use? I'm currently using poshe but sometimes my nails still chip at the tips ): I heard seche-vite is really good but it contains one of the "Big 3" which discourages me from buying it. Or do you know other tips to make them last longer? Thanks! : )
I use Seche Vite sometimes, but I find I often get shrinkage with it that bothers me more and more each time I use it, so my go-to lately has been Sally Hansen Dries Instantly (or something to that extent). It dries incredibly fast as the name would suggest and isn’t too expensive. My only problem with it is that if you’re not careful, it can drag on your nail art, but as long as you use a light hand that’s not a big deal. Thanks! : )
Hello there, I was wondering where you got those neat little gold bling-y crystal things you put on your ring finger for the mani with the deep green and neat little gold bling-y crystal things? I would like to optain some, though in white or clear. Either would be ideal.
I got them from bornprettystore.com, where they have all sorts of different nail art supplies- they are nail art studs. You can also find them on ebay just by searching nail art studs, though I can’t say I’ve ever seen them in white or clear. I know they have nail art rhinestones in those colors though!
I was looking at the needle dragging picture and was wondering what type of acrylic nails you get and what you typically use when adhering them to your own nails. THANKS :)
I’m sorry (but somewhat flattered) to say that I can’t answer your question because those are my real nails haha. I have never worn fake nails in my life so I’m completely unhelpful right now. Thanks though!
I broke down and cut my nails… I had only cut the ones on my right hand yesterday since all of the nails on my left hand were fine, but texting and typing and everything today was just so awkward with nubs on my right hand and super long nails on my left.
So, that being said, do any of you short-nailed ladies have any requests for a nail design while mine are still so little?
I'm from a small town and its really hard to find any stores that have nail products besides Walmart. My local Walmart only carries some basic nail polish and very rarely has anything else. Do you know of any online stores that I could get some products from? Thanks! Oh, and I love your blog! <3
Ebay is always good for finding different supplies for pretty cheap, as well as Amazon. I got a bunch of my brushes and studs and whatnot from bornprettystore.com if you’re looking for that kind of stuff. Thanks! I hope this is helpful to you! : )
What would you suggest for nails that are constantly peeling?
I use OPI Nail Envy, which helps my nails keep strong and I don’t have any problems with peeling. I’d also suggest buffing your nails, especially if they’re currently peely so they’ll get smoothed out and more won’t come off. I hope this helps!
Could you give me advice on ways to stop biting my nails?
I believe there are some products that you can use that make your nails taste really terrible so you don’t bite them? Or you could always just rub acetone or remover on them, because that would make them equally gross. I’m sorry I don’t have any real good advice as I never had the problem myself. I hope this helped at least a little!
I love you, you are such an artist! I tried out the first tutorial you did and posted the results on my blog. Even though it's messy I can't keep looking at my hands!! Your tutorials are great. More more more :) Jen x
I just checked them out, they look so great! I’m so glad you liked the tutorial! I’m hoping I’ll still be able to do more as school starts back up. I really love doing them. Thank you thank you thank you : )
