Momma Candiipantsss!! how CUTE. I am so looking forward to the next tutorial! Is there any underwear used in your Momma's mani? loving your work as usual. :)
Momma Candiipants is pretty cute, you’re right. She was so excited to be on my blog haha. And yeah, it’s OPI Coney Island Cotton Candy. It’s a classic, but for good reasons. Makes your nails just look really clean and healthy. I also use OPI Passion (it’s just the one I happen to own) and it’s a little whiter than Coney Island but under designs it’s pretty much the same.
Hi candice! so surprisingly the only color nail polish i don't have is pink! what pink polishes would you recommend? do you have any go-to pink polishes? thanks!
To be honest, I’m seriously lacking in pink polishes as well. I do have one that I really love, which is OPI Kiss Me on my Tulips, but beyond that I can’t think of any other favorites. So, lovely followers, you know what that means! What is your favorite pink nail polish??
Hello there! I loooooove your nail art a lot. I do some nail art myself. I've always wondered if other nail artists have the same problem as me: I'm a righty and it's soo hard to do my right hand. Sometimes I even consider just doing designs on my left hand and having a solid color on my right to save time. Do you always paint designs on each hand? Even the really complex designs?
Hello! And thanks so much! I’m also right handed, and my left hand is kinda dumb. I’ve gotten much better with it than I used to be, but I doubt I’ll ever be as good at painting with my left hand. If I’m doing a really intricate pattern, I’ll often do a simplified version of it- sometimes just on two fingers, maybe with thicker lines, maybe just at the tips of my nails- on my right hand. Sometimes, though, I do just paint the nails of my right hand in the colors that I used for the design and call it a day. It’s only when I do a design that I LOVE and know I’ll have on for awhile or if I’m going somewhere nice that I generally do the exact same thing on both hands. I just make sure to show people my left hand when they ask to see what I’m wearing…
Hiiii! How long do you wait for to paint your nails again? By the way, your velvet nails were really cute!
Hello and thanks! It depends, really. I took off the velvet nails this morning after doing them last evening just because I’d been really hard on them (to test wear and whatnot) and they were losing their fuzz. If I love a manicure I’ll keep it on for a few days or until it starts to chip, but right now I keep manis on for probably about two days before changing them. Then again the other night I did my nails like three times, so it depends. Mostly I just take my polish off whenever I feel like painting my nails again haha…
What color did you use along with the velvet nails? I've been looking for a cream colored polish for forever!!
It’s Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Ion. Just came out, and it’s a very light, very warm-toned gray creme. Such a beautiful color, and is definitely less gray than it looks in the bottle. Awesome formula too!
How many different polishes do you have??? It seems like you have a lot!!! (I love what you do and I think they're beautiful!!!)
Oh goodness it’s been a long time since I’ve counted, and I actually haven’t been buying much polish lately (which is practically a miracle) but I’d say somewhere upwards of 350 to maybe even 400 bottles at this point? It’s truly ridiculous, but then again there are times when I still need to mix colors, so obviously I don’t have enough. Right? RIGHT!? TELL ME IT’S OKAY PLEASE. Also thank you! That’s so sweet! : )
(ps I know i’ve been asked this before, but would you guys want a post or maybe even a video in which I show you my stash and maybe my most favorite polishes as well?)
Hi Candice! I'm thinking of transferring to a college across the country, and it got me thinking about my polish collection. I don't know how far you live from your college, but how do you deal with taking your polish back and forth on longer breaks?
I have two large storage bin drawer kind of things that I keep my polishes in, and when I go off to school I take them with me. However, I drive to school (it’s only like 2.5 hours away) and if I went to a school I had to fly to I don’t know if I’d be able to take it all. I do take them all home with me on winter break since it’s about a month long, but for smaller week-long breaks I have a smaller carrying case that I can fit about 30-40 bottles plus brushes and whatnot in for those guys. A lot of it depends on your stash size really. I hope this is helpful, because it felt a lot like a rambly mess to me haha.
how cool are YOU! I loooove your latest floral nails. I dunno, since you're kind of on a roll, any chance you'd grace us with a tutorial?? ;) or maybe I'm one of only a few interested. all I know is how much I'd appreciate it. thanks for keeping up an awesome tumblr! xoxo
I’ve gotten a few requests for a tutorial for those nails, so I’m thinking it’ll definitely happen! And thank you for enjoying it : )
Here’s what’s been going on in my life lately. You probably won’t want to read this, and that’s cool. Just felt the need to get all of this off my chest.
Okay, so, I know I haven’t been posting much in the past two months or so. Most of you probably know that I play volleyball, and this was my final season of playing. I am a senior in college, and volleyball is (was) extremely important to me. However, it’s done now, and this is a really strange feeling. I’m never going to play it competitively again. I’m sure I’ll join an adult league at some point, which is bizarre to me as I’m pretty sure I’m nowhere near being an adult despite every sign I’m getting from the universe (and my aching body). I know it’s not like my life is over, but for this semester in particular, volleyball was the thing keeping me sane.
Many of you also probably know that the guy I’d been dating for over two years moved to China about two months ago. That sucked. I still love him and we’re friends and still talk sometimes, but it’s been hard. So volleyball was my way of dealing with that. It was something I knew I was very good at and something that made me feel better about myself. I had a solid season, my team hosted conference playoffs and lost to a team in finals that just played really goddamn well. I got some post season accolades, which was nice (first team all conference) and all in all I’m really pleased with how the season went.
This doesn’t stop the fact that I’m am so, so goddamn sad right now. We only ended this past Sunday and every day between the hours of 4:45 and 6:45 I feel like something is missing. I’m trying to get back into doing more nail art stuff (and I might start doing beauty posts too) but It’ll take some time. I’m spending a lot of time with my guy friends playing poker lately. In all honesty, if I can be I’m not in my room because it’s a pretty emotion-laden place right now. I’ll be fine eventually, but I’m struggling right now and I know you guys aren’t happy with the lack of nail art things right now, but it’ll get better. I promise. I just need some time to adjust to a life that doesn’t include me being an athlete, because I’ve been one, and a serious one, for most of my life.
If you read this far, thanks so much, and I hope you understand. Also I made a tutorial for the baroque nails I’ve been obsessed with lately, so I’ll put that up in like two minutes. I love you guys. For real.
*EDIT* You are all really wonderful and the sweet notes you’re writing made me tear up a little. Thank you so much. : )
