Complete on your own time schedule but try and tag every post of your nail art with ‘#nail art challenge’ to keep track.
I think I’m gonna do this sometime soon. Some classic challenge kinda things, and then some different ones. We’ll see how it goez! (that z was totally an accident, I swear!)
Anonymous asked: hey, i love your blog! i was just wondering ... you mentioned Essie Bobbing For Baubles a couple times as a nude, and I'm pretty sure it's a dark blue ... ? it was just bothering me XD
LOL you are exactly right. The one I’m thinking of is in that collection, called Brooch the Subject. I need to go make some edits now, thanks!
Anonymous asked: Hey! So I love nail art and doing my nails, and I had a couple questions about doing it for money (like you do). How do you advertise? Or like, get your word out, I guess. Is it just word of mouth? And when it comes to doing other people's nails, do you do like a full manicure (soaking cuticles, full prep work, etc) or just paint them? And do you transport your polishes to wherever you're going? I realize that's a lot of questions, but I'm really curious! Thanks! Your nails are always great.
Thanks so much! As for advertising, it’s pretty much just word of mouth, but also my mother (once again, love that woman) is super proud of my tumblr and is ALWAYS showing it to people, so I actually get a decent amount of business from her haha. I actually want to get business cards soon so my mom can give those to people who are interested.
Sometimes people will come to my house, and other times, like if I’m doing it for a birthday party or something, I just go to them. I have a little makeup bag kinda thing that I got at target (it’s a lot like this), and I bring a small thing of remover, some cotton balls, my favorite brushes, and then a bunch of polishes. A lot of what I bring depends on the people whose nails I’m painting- if it’s younger girls I’ll bring lots of bright colors and glitters, because that’s what I figure they’ll like and that kind of stuff.
I don’t do a full manicure- I’ll buff if necessary and file or shape nails, but I don’t use any cuticle cutters or nail clippers just because it’s generally not needed and I don’t feel wholly comfortable doing it.
Hope that answers all your questions! If you have any more, feel free to ask! : )
Anonymous asked: Hey there, we really enjoy looking at your blog, learning new things and getting great ideas. When we was scrolling through your archive the Galaxy nails really stood out us!! We were wondering if you could tell us how to do them or make a tutorial. Thank you for all of the creative talent that keeps inspiring us to experiment with newdesign designs Thanks again! Nicole, Avery & Shandelle from Canada :)
Thanks so much! I don’t think I’m gonna do a tutorial for galaxy nails (though that could always change) just because there are already so many AMAZING tutorials for them out there! Check out Attacked Astoria’s tutorial here, I really like it and I think hers are really beautiful. If you need more help or want a video, though, just go on youtube and search “galaxy nail tutorial” and I promise you’ll find lots of great results!
imaginarymusicbox asked: The first time I read your about I could have sworn you said you were a janitor at Franklin & Marshall college. I was so confused when I got to the volleyball. xD
LOL nope, not a janitor. Though I have to change that as I’m a senior now, AHHHHH SO WEIRD SAVE ME.
Anonymous asked: how many coats does it take you to get a nude completely opaque? like somoan sands or bobbing for baubles.
Bobbing for Baubles Brooch the Subject (I kept calling it Bobbing for Baubles, but that’s actually a navy polish. Whoops!) generally takes just 2 coats, because it’s a more opaque nude (similar to Zoya Avery), but Samoan Sands is sheerer, so it can be anywhere from 3 to 4 coats depending on how opaque you want it. I think I prefer wearing 2 or 3 coats of it, though, as it’s kind of a “my nails but better” look for me, when I want something nude and unassuming and pretty.
Anonymous asked: Soooo you told me that you found oval/round nails to be strongest and they don't break as easily as square or squoval nails. Just wanted to let you know that I have had them more rounded than I used to and they haven't broken once! Just saying, you are a nail genius. Love ya, Fridge sooon!!! <3 you know who.
WAWAWEEWAAAA HIII LIIIIIZ. So glad to hear your nails are stronger!! And yes, we much meet up at some point in the near future. I need me some thirsty dog! : )
So I tried out that watercolor technique finally, and I’m actually pretty happy with how it came out. You all know I love this color combination, and abstract florals, so this one really had no chance but being a hit with me. Yay!

Anonymous asked: Did you ever do a tutorial for the waves ?
Not yet! I will though! Sometime this week, it’ll be up. I PROMISE, GUYS. MAYBE EVEN TOMORROW. WHOA. But it will be my next video, that’s for sure!
Because I know you guys like seeing what my right hand looks like, here it is in relation to this manicure. It’s nearly the same design, just some of the lines are thicker, and then clearly I just did one big star as opposed to all the little ones on my left hand. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out, and I think seeing as it’s summer and I have more free time to practice doing nail art with my left hand that I’ll do posts like this more often (if for no other reason then to show off my lack of ambidextrosity. it’s a word a swear).
theofficialkeyara asked: i was just wondering if you could do i tutorial about how you get like different colors on one nail like in sections and it looks so clean, i really want to be able to do that :p
Yeah I could definitely do something like that. A real quick trick to doing that though is using a striper brush to put in the color, and then to outline it in black (or whatever color you want). This automatically makes the sections look really crisp and clean!
